What's Involved
A pre-employment medical assesses your fitness for the specific demands of a role, and what it includes depends on what the employer has asked for. Most assessments cover a health history and a physical examination; where the role requires it, breathing function testing (spirometry), an ECG or pathology tests can be completed onsite in the same appointment.
Tell reception it is a pre-employment medical when you book, so the right appointment length is set aside, and mention any form your employer has supplied: the GP completes the employer’s paperwork as part of the assessment.
Hiring Locally
If you are hiring locally and need one candidate assessed, or a handful, you do not need a corporate account. Call reception, tell us what the role requires and send through your form, and we will book the candidate in. With spirometry, ECG and pathology collection onsite, most assessments are completed in a single visit, and the completed report returns to you once the candidate has consented to its release.
Injured at work
If you have been injured at work, a GP can assess the injury, issue and review the work capacity certificate your claim requires, and manage treatment and referrals as you recover. Bring your employer’s details and your claim reference to the first appointment if you have them.

Generally no. Employment, driving and insurance medicals sit outside Medicare, which is why they are privately billed rather than bulk billed.
